The ultimate ambition of Croydon Built to Compete is to ensure small to medium sized businesses based in Croydon become better, more successful, and go on to win more public and private sector business with large organisations.
This will be achieved by creating demand in the local economy (working in depth with major local buyers) and creating business generation (by helping SMEs to tender for contracts). Specialist advice is offered on a 1:1 basis working on the demand side with buyers to create opportunities in the local economy. Our specialists aim is to create diversity in the supply chain within large organisations in the public and private sector to create lasting change that will increase the access of SMEs to large contracts in the local area.

One to One tender support
Receive 4 days of free one-to-one tender writing support that could make all the difference between winning and losing a contract.
These will be taken either by a business advisor or a procurement advisor. Businesses are eligible to receive up to 4 days of free one-to-one support with tender writing and bidding for contracts. The advisor will give you valuable advice on a structure, layout and will help you read and fill out the tender documentation. From our experience in working with various SMEs we know that this can really make the difference between winning and losing a bid!

Meet the Buyer events
Bringing together major local buyers with quality Croydon SMEs for face to face appointments
There will be 2 events per year with around 20 buyers in attendance. Buyers of goods and services who are interested in sourcing from the local economy commit to attending the event and tell us what they are looking to buy. We then find local suppliers who can meet this need and bring them together for face-to-face appointments. Local SMEs therefore get guaranteed face-to-face sales appointments with major local buyers at the event.
Training Workshops
Radically improve your tenders with these in-depth workshops
These workshops will solely focus on tender writing. 4 will be run per year and they may focus on individual elements of tendering such as passing the pre-qualification stage, writing the tender, or create the right impression at the interview stage. There may also be workshops focusing on a specific opportunity where a buyer who is letting the contract will come and talk to local businesses about it before the contract is advertised. This gives local businesses a huge amount of encouragement to actually bid for the contract.
